  Rude staff. Dr. Mitra was lovely, did a biopsy on a lesion under my eyelid that turned out to be a nodular basal cell carcinoma that needs to have the MOHS procedure next in order to excise the cancer. I was referred to Dr. Bricca in Roseville. Didn't hear from his office, meanwhile the lesion is growing. I called Sierra Medical Eye back to have Shay (Dr. Mitra's aide) please double check on the referral - she was short, not friendly but eventually said she would double check and get back to me. She never did. So I called Bricca's office myself and made an appt. for a consultation, which at this point was going to be 2 more weeks of waiting. I drove all the way to Roseville through a nasty storm for the consultation yesterday only to be met with "we don't take your insurance". Isn't this something that the referring doc's office is supposed to clear ahead of time? And if need be, make a new referral in a timely manner? Why did I not know this before the actual appointment date? Speaking to Shay this morning about this situation was, again, less than satisfying. She was abrupt, very rude and essentially passing the buck - let the patient beware. Hopefully she will - as she said she would - make a new referral for me and let me know WHO she has referred me to. These people are NOT your advocates. You are essentially on your own and left to your own devices if you need further help beyond their office walls. I will never recommend Sierra Medical Eye to anyone. I certainly will recommend Dr. Mitra, but the office staff needs some lessons in public relations and simple compassion for the patient they are supposed to be helping.
